Het interieur van dit Romaanse kerkje dat teruggaat tot de 12e eeuw is overdadig te noemen: het houten tongewelf uit ca.1550, de versierde balken en vooral de rijkelijk bewerkte rouwborden. De terp (8,8 meter boven NAP) is rond 1900 grotendeels afgegraven rond de kerk, waardoor die nog indrukwekkender boven de omgeving uitrijst.  Het middenpad in deze kerk beschouwde ik als rustpunt en plek om een kunstwerk te maken.

Een vloer van licht spiegelt als het ware de vorm van het tongewelf in een lijnenspel en lijkt optisch de diepte of de hoogte in te gaan, als markering van de hoogste terp van Friesland en refereert symbolisch tevens aan de afgraving van de terp. De lichtlijnen veranderden voortdurend van intensiteit waardoor deze illusie steeds anders werd ervaren. 

​Baken Het Ziltepad was een serie licht kunstwerken gemaakt in vier kerken langs de Waddenkust in Groningen en Friesland en georganiseerd door Hi-Lo Art. 

The interior of this small Romanesque church dating back to the 12th century is rich: the wooden barrel vault from c.1550, the decorated beams and especially the richly decorated mourning boards. The terp (8.8 metres above sea level) was largely excavated around the church around 1900, making it rise even more impressively above its surroundings.  I considered the centre aisle in this church as a resting point and place to create an artwork.

A floor of light reflects the shape of the barrel vault in a pattern of lines and seems to optically go to the depth or in height, marking the highest mound in Friesland and also symbolically referring to the excavation of the terp. The light lines constantly changed in intensity, creating an ever-changing experience of this illusion.
